Highlights

INDULGE

The COMO Metropolitan Bangkok is a luxurious yet affordable downtown option, offering spacious rooms with big, airy windows and huge, comfortable beds.

RELAX

Large rooms with larger windows and huge double beds – space is not an issue at the Metropolitan and the sparsely designed but extremely comfortable rooms, kept in quiet beige and brown tones with a hint of Georgia O’Keefe–ish art gracing the walls, also feature every luxury one might expect in this price range. The huge beds are as comfortable as it gets.

EXPLORE

Our contemporary hotel puts careful emphasis on providing perfectly curated experiences of the city. These range from orchestrating a customised street market trip, designing a programme of treatments at COMO Shambhala Urban Retreat, arranging restaurant reservations or securing guides to the city’s up-to-the-minute fashion stores.

DRINK & DINE AT THE RESORT

Three very different restaurants vie for guests’ attention. Glow serves healthy organic food, including delicious fresh juices and salads, with many ingredients coming from royal projects, along with more ordinary comfort food items including pizzas, burgers and some Thai dishes.

The culinary highlight is Nahm, created by David Thompson, famed for his Michelin-starred restaurant at The Halkin hotel in London. This very flash eatery serves an eclectic assortment of Thai dishes, beautifully presented with a modern twist. The coconut and turmeric curry with blue swimmer crab with lime is great, as is the smoky beef salad with mint and lemongrass.

Met Bar also offers pizzas and other western fare and is the best place to try some of the 60 different cocktails and 120 different wines the Metropolitan has on its menus. Breakfast is special too: a decent buffet and plenty of healthy and unusual à la carte options, such as smoked salmon and avocado on toasted multigrain bread with ricotta.

THE RESORT

Located in the former YMCA building on Sathorn Road, close to many foreign embassies, it’s all about pop art retro chic and size at the Metro Bangkok. The huge lobby would do as the backdrop to a Bond movie (a recent one), while the rooms are amongst the largest in Bangkok. The pool and gym and a couple of great restaurants inject some pragmatism into this minimalist dream of a hotel.

Hidden down a quiet lane, equidistant from Seminyak’s famous ‘Eat Street’ and the expansive Petitenget Beach, Eshara Villas is just 300-metres away from a staggering array of hedonistic pleasures – from designer boutiques and day spas to beach bars, fine dining restaurants, cheap and cheerful cafes, and pulsating nightspots. Taxis continually cruise along the main thoroughfare, which is also where guests will find two tourist markets selling leisurewear, bags and accessories, a pedestrianised shopping centre, ATMs, a deli, and several convenience stores.
